Our verdict on PolarConverter
PolarConverter is an open-source Java command-line tool for converting Minecraft Java Edition worlds stored in Anvil format into Polar world files. It is aimed at operators and developers running Minestom-based servers with the Polar engine, particularly when an existing vanilla Java world needs to be moved into that environment. The workflow is focused on storage-format conversion rather than general Minecraft edition migration, and the resulting output is written as a .polar file.
Its strongest feature is control over conversion scope. PolarConverter supports full-world conversion as well as optional chunk-radius conversion, giving users a choice between processing the complete source world and limiting the operation to a defined area. It also converts blocks and metadata, while validating the source world's DataVersion against the Minestom server version. These capabilities make it suitable for preserving world content while checking an important compatibility condition before output is produced.
The setup requirements are specific. The tool requires Java 25 or newer and an Anvil world containing both level.dat and a region folder. That makes it a practical fit for Java-based command-line workflows, but less suitable for users seeking a graphical converter or a broad interchange utility. PolarConverter is also narrowly scoped to Anvil-to-Polar conversion; it is not documented as a Java-to-Bedrock or Bedrock-to-Java converter. Choose it when the destination is Polar on Minestom, and look for another tool when the required target is a different world format or edition.
