PointDNS review
DNS management and reporting with scalable plans, but no documented GeoDNS steering.

PointDNS is a cloud-hosted DNS management service for developers, businesses, and IT service companies. It offers a web dashboard and REST API for managing records, sharing access with collaborators, grouping domains, and making mass updates. Traffic metrics, DNSSEC, IPv6, logging, reporting, zone transfers, and permanent HTTP redirects add operational tools beyond basic record editing. Its fit for GeoDNS is limited: the service documents geographically distributed nameservers, but not geographic steering methods or rules. Teams specifically seeking location-based DNS routing should compare alternatives that clearly document those controls.
The published plans scale by domain count, collaborators, and monthly query allowance. Small costs $25 per month for 10 domains, 5 collaborators, and 1 million queries; Medium costs $50 for 50 domains, 10 collaborators, and 5 million queries. Large is $125 for 500 domains, 25 collaborators, and 10 million queries, while Enterprise is $500 for 2,500 domains, unlimited collaborators, and 500 million queries. All plans include unlimited records, email alerts, and API access. A 14-day trial is available; the limited free option is only through Heroku and covers one domain and ten records.
PointDNS also supports domain grouping, mass updates, query logging, and reporting, which can help teams administer multiple zones and review DNS activity. Integrations listed include Google Apps, Bitly, Heroku, CloudApp, Tumblr, LaunchRock, and OpenShift; support is by email. The homepage's references to customer use of geo-redundancy and DNS failover do not establish built-in geographic routing, health checks, or failover configuration. Choose PointDNS for centralized DNS administration, API access, and plan tiers that accommodate larger domain portfolios. Do not choose it on the assumption that it provides GeoDNS steering or automated failover.
