Our verdict on PixelCopy

PixelCopy is a Windows screen-capture application for people who need to document, mark up, or share what appears on their screen. It supports region, window, fullscreen, and scrolling captures, with annotation tools for arrows, shapes, text, numbered steps, highlighting, blur, and pixelation. Screen recordings can be saved as MP4 or GIF, and on-device OCR supports 25+ languages. The Free plan includes local capture, recording, annotation, pin-to-screen, and OCR features, making it relevant to solo users and small teams that can keep work local.

The distinction between Free and Pro is chiefly cloud sharing. According to the vendor's published plans, Pro costs $8 per month and adds cloud uploads, short links, unlimited cloud storage with a 500 MB per-file limit, and priority email support. Its links can have expiry dates and password protection, and include view counts. That makes Pro more suitable when a capture needs to be sent outside the local workflow with access controls; Free covers the capture and editing work without those cloud features. PixelCopy can also post uploads to Slack, Microsoft Teams, or custom webhooks, which gives it a practical fit in teams using those destinations.

The main constraint is platform scope: PixelCopy supports Windows, including Windows 10 and 11 on x64 and ARM64, but does not offer a browser extension. Buyers who need a browser-based capture workflow or another desktop platform should look elsewhere. The product's focus is broader than annotation alone, combining capture, recording, OCR, searchable history, and pinning in one Windows application. Choose it if those local tools plus optional controlled sharing match your workflow; choose an alternative if browser access or cross-platform use is essential.
