Our verdict on Photos Backup Anywhere
Photos Backup Anywhere is a macOS utility for people who want a local or network-based copy of an Apple Photos library. It backs up new photos and videos automatically in the background, with support for external drives and NAS locations. iCloud Photos support includes libraries using Optimize Mac Storage, making the product suited to Mac users who want their photo collection stored beyond Apple’s library environment.
The product has one paid plan, Photos Backup Anywhere, with a published starting price of 9.99; App Store prices vary by region. That plan includes the Mac application, external-drive and NAS backups, iCloud Photos support, background backups, and restoration with metadata preservation. The backup model uses the customer’s own storage rather than storage hosted by the product vendor. Incremental and resumable backups can reduce repeated work, while verification and automatic repair address backup integrity. Deletion handling can be configured to ignore, move, or delete items.
Its strongest focus is preserving the structure and history of an Apple Photos library, not providing a broad, multi-platform photo service. Backups can retain albums, favorites, locations, timestamps, and non-destructive edits, and restores can go directly into a photo library. That makes it a good fit for Mac users who already rely on Apple Photos and want control over where backup copies live. It is less suitable for households needing mobile backup, users seeking vendor-hosted storage, or anyone who does not want to manage external-drive or NAS capacity. Choose it for dedicated Apple Photos protection on macOS; consider another option if platform breadth or included storage matters more.
