Our verdict on PhotoModeler
PhotoModeler is desktop photogrammetry software for measuring, modeling, scanning, and documenting objects and scenes from photographs. It supports manual point marking, point referencing, coded target detection, SmartMatch automation, photogrammetric 2D and 3D modeling, orthophoto and orthomosaic export, ground control point workflows, and geographic coordinate systems. The product is suited to technical work in surveying, construction, mining, geology, forensics, manufacturing, architecture, archaeology, and education. Windows users seeking structured photogrammetry with both manual and automated workflows are the clearest fit.
Pricing spans subscriptions and permanent licenses. The Standard Monthly plan costs $68 per user per month, while Premium Monthly costs $118 per user per month. Yearly pricing is $548 per user per year for Standard and $968 per user per year for Premium. Standard focuses on CAD-like models, lines, curves, surfaces, and coded target and SmartMatch automation. Premium adds dense surface modeling, point-cloud and LIDAR handling, image idealization, video import, and geographic coordinate systems. Permanent options cost $998 for Standard and $2,298 for Premium. A 30-day trial provides an evaluation period, and there is no free plan.
The main differentiator is the breadth of technical output and input support within a Windows desktop workflow. PhotoModeler includes point-cloud and LIDAR import and export, GeoTIFF output, orthophotos, control-point workflows, video import, time-based motion measurement, and Windows DDE programmability. That range makes it a practical choice for users who need measured models and downstream geospatial or technical deliverables rather than a narrow image-to-model tool. Choose it when Windows compatibility and structured photogrammetry matter; choose an alternative when a non-Windows platform is required or when a free plan is essential.
