Pexafy API brings image discovery from multiple stock sources into a developer-focused search service. Its REST API returns unified JSON and supports semantic text queries, image-to-image and similar-image search, including multilingual queries. Developers, content teams, agencies and editors can use it to add image search without integrating each source separately. It is a fit when discovery across sources matters more than downloading assets in bulk; teams needing a single license covering all results should look elsewhere.
The plan ladder scales request allowances and access. Free includes 5K API requests and 5K UI searches per month, one API key, and limited search results and similar images. Starter costs $9 monthly or $8 per month with annual billing and includes 20K requests and three keys; Pro costs $29 monthly or $24 per month billed annually, with 70K requests and five keys. Both paid plans list email support under 24 hours. Expert allows 150K requests and 10 keys, with priority support under 12 hours, while Team allows 300K requests and 25 keys, with priority support under six hours. Search controls include color, orientation, source and relevance filters, cursor pagination, collections, favorites, usage analytics and API-key management. The documented page limit is 100 results, though pagination documentation and the FAQ differ on the limit. Licensing remains a key constraint: rights depend on each originating source, so Pexafy should not be treated as a unified commercial-use license. Choose it for cross-source search and one API integration; choose another approach if bulk downloads or consistent licensing terms are essential.
