Personio review
A broad HR suite for structured people operations, with quote-based pricing.

Personio is a cloud-based HR platform for small and mid-sized organisations that want one system for structured people operations. It centralises employee profiles and people data, while covering document management, eSignatures, time tracking, attendance, absence, onboarding, performance reviews, goals, feedback, workflow automation, analytics and payroll preparation. Native access is available through web, iOS and Android, including support for time tracking, time-off requests, approvals and document access.
The published plans are quote-based rather than publicly priced. Core includes employee profiles, documents and eSignatures with limits, analytics and reporting, workflow automation, time tracking and preliminary payroll. Core Pro adds everything in Core, plus position management, unlimited documents and eSignatures, unlimited legal entity management, API access for custom integrations, and unlimited access and permissions. Personio also offers optional applications for recruiting, performance and development, surveys, compensation management, whistleblowing and employer-of-record capabilities. Integrations include Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Calendar, Zapier, Google SSO, Xero and Sage 50, giving teams several routes into their existing communication, calendar, identity and finance workflows.
Its main advantage is breadth: teams can connect day-to-day HR administration with onboarding, performance processes, reporting and payroll preparation instead of selecting separate tools for each area. Core Pro is the more suitable plan for organisations needing advanced permissions, broader document handling, legal entity management or custom integrations. The trade-off is a buying process that requires direct sales contact, with no free plan for self-serve evaluation. Personio should suit European teams that value structured, connected HR operations and can assess a tailored package. Organisations seeking transparent public pricing, a free starting tier or a narrowly focused HR tool may prefer a simpler alternative.
