Our verdict on PermissionCore
PermissionCore is a free, self-hosted Minecraft server plugin for administrators managing players, groups, ranks, and permission nodes. It supports Minecraft 1.10 through 1.21 and is intended for survival, PvP, creative, minigame, network, and community servers. The feature set focuses on standard permission administration, with parent-group inheritance, temporary permissions, wildcard permissions, negation, configurable language files, and preconfigured rank examples.
The published plan structure is simple: PermissionCore is free, with no paid tier to compare. Its core administration tools include player and group management, while caching and hot reload support ongoing server administration. Temporary permissions with expiration are useful for time-limited access, and inheritance can reduce repeated permission assignments across groups. Chat formatting with prefixes and suffixes extends the plugin beyond access control, particularly for servers that want rank information reflected in chat.
Integration is centered on the Spigot ecosystem. Vault and PlaceholderAPI support can connect permissions and formatting with other server features that use those integrations. Storage is YAML-based, and YAML is currently the only supported storage type. That keeps the product focused on a straightforward server-plugin deployment, but it gives administrators fewer storage options than a broader permissions system might. Choose PermissionCore for a free Spigot server needing conventional player, group, rank, inheritance, temporary-permission, and chat-formatting features. Servers requiring another supported platform or a different storage backend should consider an alternative.
