Paythos is an accounts payable automation platform for finance teams that need a structured invoice-to-pay workflow. It accepts invoices through a dedicated email address, uploads and supported accounting connections, then extracts supplier, line-item, VAT, date, reference and payment data. Teams can manage nominal or GL codes, check invoice exceptions, match invoices to purchase orders, route approvals and prepare supplier payment runs. The workflow also keeps invoice, approval, payment and audit records together, making it suited to small and growing businesses that want more control over AP operations.
Pricing starts with Essentials at £79 per month, billed monthly. This plan includes multi-format invoice extraction, nominal or GL code management, invoice risk and exception checks, approval workflows and payment-run preparation via Modulr. Professional costs £199 per month and adds Paythos Auto Pilot, ML-assisted risk prioritisation, purchase-order approver recommendations, multi-step approval routing and branded PDF and Excel report exports. Both named plans show a yearly billing option with “Save 10%.” Enterprise adds unlimited invoice volume, unlimited users, custom integration planning, a dedicated success manager, SLA, SSO and security review, with custom pricing.
The main strength is breadth within the AP workflow: Paythos combines intake, data extraction, coding, duplicate and anomaly checks, purchase-order matching, approvals, payment status tracking and reporting. Its reports cover AP ageing, cash exposure, exceptions and operations. The web platform connects with Xero, QuickBooks, FreshBooks and Modulr, but organisations needing a wider ecosystem may find those options restrictive. Payment release remains subject to authorized human review, so Paythos is better for teams seeking controlled automation than for businesses expecting fully autonomous payments. It suits UK SMBs with repeatable AP processes; companies needing extensive integrations or more established enterprise breadth should compare alternatives.

- Enterprise pricing is custom rather than listed monthly
- Payment release still requires authorized human review
