Our verdict on Paycycle

Paycycle is a payment operations platform for South African businesses and accounting practices using Xero. It brings supplier payments, payroll payment runs, recurring customer collections, bank-account verification, mandate management, Pay Now invoice payments and reconciliation into connected workflows. The product is suited to teams that want operational controls around preparation, approval and matching rather than a general-purpose e-commerce payment platform.

Its strongest fit is the Xero and SimplePay ecosystem. Supplier Payments supports Xero supplier-bill workflows, payment-run preparation, approvals and automatic Xero reconciliation. Payroll Payments connects to SimplePay for salary and wage payment runs, while Pay Now adds real-time payment confirmation and automatic invoice matching for Xero invoices. Automated Collections covers electronic mandates, recurring collections, failed-collection workflows and Xero reconciliation. The platform also includes AI-assisted bank reconciliation, and its payment methods include debit orders, EFT, PayShap, DebiCheck and card payments.
