A flexible Java PaaS with strong deployment options, but costly fixed tiers and no managed database.

Payara Qube is a platform for deploying Jakarta EE, Spring Boot, and Quarkus applications. It supports WAR, JAR, and ZIP uploads, with deployment available through a web console, CLI, Maven plugin, or IntelliJ IDEA plugin. The platform supports JDK 11, JDK 17, and JDK 21, along with Payara 5 and Payara 6 application servers. It fits teams that want managed Java application hosting or the option to run the platform on their own Kubernetes infrastructure.
Pricing spans a 15-day Free Trial, Pay As You Go, Standard, and Premium. The trial supports up to 4 vCPUs and 8 GB memory. Pay As You Go has a $0 monthly base fee and allows up to 2 vCPU and 4 GB memory. Standard costs $432 per month and includes 2 vCPU and 4 GB memory prepaid. Premium costs $3,300 per month and includes 16 vCPU and 32 GB memory prepaid. Standard and Premium also bill additional usage separately. These higher fixed fees make the paid tiers more suitable for workloads that need their included capacity.
The managed edition automates infrastructure provisioning, deployment, scaling, logging, monitoring, and runtime configuration. Horizontal scaling and scale-to-zero options can help accommodate changing application demand, while custom domains and namespace-based environments support application organization. The self-hosted edition runs on an organization's Kubernetes infrastructure for greater control over data and infrastructure. Payara Qube is a strong fit for teams standardizing on Payara, Jakarta EE, Spring Boot, or Quarkus. Teams that require a managed database or prefer lower fixed plan costs should consider another hosting option.
