Parkdale review
A free, cross-platform drive benchmark with varied tests but no IOPS or latency metrics.

Parkdale is a free disk benchmarking utility for measuring read and write performance across hard disks, optical drives, network servers, and other storage devices. It is suited to users who want a quick way to compare storage performance across Windows, macOS, and Android, with a separate Windows command-line utility for scripted or terminal-based work.
Its testing modes provide useful coverage for a lightweight benchmark tool. Sequential testing measures read and write speeds, while random-access testing uses 4 KB blocks and concurrent threads. QuickAccess benchmarks the filesystem, FileAccess tests a normal file, and BlockAccess works directly on disk sectors. Transfer-rate graphs show performance over time, and multiple-drive testing helps compare more than one device in a session. Results can also be logged, compared, and submitted through the vendor’s benchmark page.
Parkdale’s main boundary is metric depth rather than platform coverage. The published specifications do not include IOPS or latency measurement, so it is less suitable for storage analysis that depends on those figures. The Windows command-line option also does not extend to macOS or Android. Choose Parkdale for accessible, cross-platform sequential and random drive checks, filesystem and sector testing, and result comparison. Choose another tool when IOPS, latency, or a cross-platform command-line workflow is central to the evaluation.
