PacketSnitch review
A broad desktop toolkit for packet investigations, evidence management, and reporting.

PacketSnitch is a desktop packet-capture analysis application for security analysts, incident responders, forensics engineers, developers, CTF players, and researchers. It loads PCAP and PCAPNG files, decodes protocols, reconstructs TCP streams, extracts credentials and files, and supports searchable packet metadata. Investigation notes, evidence management, report export, GeoIP enrichment, and geographic visualization make it suited to work that needs both technical analysis and documented findings. It runs on Windows, Linux, and macOS.
Its strongest area is the breadth of the investigation workflow. PacketSnitch combines packet decoding, conversation analysis, artifact extraction, filtering, decryption workflows for TLS, PGP, and Wi-Fi traffic, and evidence handling in one desktop application. Optional Ollama-powered analysis adds an AI-assisted path, while integrations with Ollama and VirusTotal extend the surrounding workflow. The Python backend also provides command-line and HTTP service modes, giving technical teams additional ways to fit the application into existing processes.
The published licensing structure has two paid options. PacketSnitch Pro License includes all current and future themes and plugins, a single PacketSnitch instance, and priority technical support, with a starting price of 189.99. PacketSnitch Enterprise License adds unlimited use across the organization while retaining the themes, plugins, and priority support. PacketSnitch should suit investigators who value detailed desktop analysis and evidence management. Teams seeking cloud-native capture collection, organization-wide access without an Enterprise license, or a free entry tier should consider a different fit.
