OxiCloud is an open-source, self-hosted cloud storage server for people who manage their own infrastructure, including home-lab operators and small teams. Its web interface handles files and folders, multi-file uploads, previews, thumbnails, full-text search, favorites, and trash. File sharing, quotas, roles, and OIDC/SSO round out the core. The product also supports calendars and contacts, so it may suit people looking for more than a web-based file cabinet without moving those services to a hosted platform.

Its protocol and editing options are a notable part of the fit. WebDAV provides file access, while CalDAV and CardDAV cover calendars and contacts. For browser-based document editing, OxiCloud uses WOPI with Collabora Online or OnlyOffice. Listed integrations also include Keycloak, Authentik, and Azure AD. Docker Compose and other deployment options are described by the project. These capabilities make OxiCloud relevant to small deployments that want to connect storage with existing identity or office tools, though they also mean the buyer needs to be comfortable configuring and maintaining a self-hosted service.

The project describes chunked uploads and BLAKE3 file deduplication, plus search and previews for day-to-day file management. The client picture needs care: the dedicated desktop sync client and mobile apps are planned, and DAVx5 Android support is partial. That makes the server a weaker fit for teams whose priority is polished, dedicated sync across desktop and mobile devices. Community support and documentation are the listed support channels. Choose OxiCloud for self-managed storage with DAV services and browser editing; consider alternatives if ready-made sync clients or a managed service matter more than control over deployment.

OxiCloud pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Chunked uploads and BLAKE3 deduplication support file storage.
    • WebDAV, CalDAV, and CardDAV cover files, calendars, and contacts.
    • WOPI enables browser editing through Collabora Online or OnlyOffice.
  • Where it doesn't
    • Dedicated desktop sync client is planned, not available.
    • Dedicated mobile apps are planned; DAVx5 Android support is partial.
    • Self-hosting requires managing the infrastructure and deployment.
