OVHcloud Managed Kubernetes review
Low-cost managed Kubernetes with a free control plane and practical automation options.

OVHcloud Managed Kubernetes provides managed Kubernetes clusters on OVHcloud Public Cloud for teams running containerized and microservice-based applications. OVHcloud manages the control plane, while customers configure worker nodes and workloads. The service includes cluster and node-pool autoscaling, OIDC-based access management, security update policies, private networking through vRack, load balancing, persistent storage, and infrastructure-as-code workflows. It suits teams that want managed Kubernetes without paying a control-plane fee on the Free plan.
The published plans show two control-plane options. Free includes a managed control plane for life, a 99.5% SLO, up to 100 nodes per cluster, and a 400 MiB etcd quota. Standard costs $0.099 per cluster per hour and raises the limit to 500 nodes, provides 8 GiB of dedicated etcd quota, and adds a 99.99% SLA in 3-AZ regions, cross-availability-zone resilience, and rolling Kubernetes upgrades. Worker nodes, Block Storage volumes, and public IP addresses are billed separately, so the control-plane price is only one part of the deployment cost. Regional availability and SLA terms vary by plan and region.
For platform teams, OVHcloud offers a useful provisioning and networking fit: Terraform, Pulumi, CDK for Terraform, the OVHcloud API, and the OVHcloud CLI are supported, alongside vRack, Public Cloud Load Balancer, Block Storage, Object Storage, and OpenID Connect. The service is a focused managed Kubernetes offering rather than a multi-cluster management platform, and its documented scope is narrower than larger hyperscaler offerings. Choose it for inexpensive managed clusters, autoscaling, private networking, and infrastructure-as-code. Look elsewhere if centralized multi-cluster management or a broader feature set is a priority.
