Our verdict on Overstrike
Overstrike is an open-source mod manager for Windows PC ports of Insomniac Games titles, including Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. It is aimed at players who manage several mod sets and want separate game profiles, format-aware library scanning, ordering controls, and an installation command. The application also includes a suit-management menu for games that support suit mods.
Its workflow covers several practical parts of mod organization. Overstrike supports .smpcmod, .mmpcmod, .suit, .stage, and .modular files, scans the Mods Library folder, and detects supported mods inside .7z, .zip, and .rar archives. Users can create and switch between profiles, reorder mods with drag and drop, enable or disable them individually, and apply the selected set through Install mods. The mod-library cache is intended to speed up repeated scans, while errors.log provides detailed installation errors for troubleshooting. Mod source access is handled through manual import.
Overstrike’s main strength is focus rather than broad platform coverage. It is a suitable choice for Windows users working with the supported Insomniac Games PC-port mod formats and wanting profile-based organization without a paid plan. The scope is narrower than a general-purpose mod manager: Windows is the documented platform, and Linux use through Proton is experimental and not guaranteed. Choose Overstrike for controlled mod-pack workflows around its supported games; consider another option if you need a manager designed for broader platform coverage or a wider range of game ecosystems.
