Orphere is a browser-based harmony workspace for composers, students, theorists, and teachers who want to explore relationships among chords and scales. It can search harmonic material by note content, brightness, dissonance, and other properties, then help organize progressions across regions, sections, themes, or sync points. Its emphasis is on examining and planning harmony rather than supplying a complete music-production workflow, making it a fit for users who want to reason about harmonic choices in their other music tools.
The search and analysis features offer more than a basic chord picker: users can inspect harmonic elements and moves, including voice-leading relationships, explore modal scales and extended chords, and start from curated templates based on real musical excerpts. A natural-language AI assistant can find, edit, retrieve, or create harmonic material. Projects provide a place to save compositions and harmonic analyses. This makes Orphere particularly relevant to exploratory composition and theory work; it is less suited to anyone seeking melody or bass follow-up, rhythm, orchestration, or a genre/style-driven progression generator.
