Orca Inventory brings restaurant inventory, purchasing, receiving, recipe costing, sales forecasting and reporting into a cloud back-office system. Its commissary management and multi-unit tools make it a fit for operators coordinating stock across locations, while restaurants, bars and other hospitality businesses can use its inventory audits, vendor ordering and operational log. It is best suited to teams that want purchasing and cost workflows alongside inventory rather than a narrower stock-counting tool.

The suite covers several connected operational steps: staff can count inventory with location, category and vendor filters, create purchase orders with suggested ordering, and check received items against purchase orders. Invoice photo capture is also described, though the vendor notes it is an in-app purchase rather than part of the listed Full Orca Suite. Recipe, prep and plate costing can update automatically when invoice prices change, connecting purchasing costs to menu calculations. Reporting spans inventory, variance, recipes, sales and expenses. Orca says counts can work offline, and the system integrates with POS systems, distributors, accounting and AP software, and weather applications; the vendor lists 100 integrations.

There is no free plan. The published plans show $199 per store per month for Monthly billing, $189 for Annual, and $179 for the 2 yr option, with the latter two prices expressed per month and billed annually. All three list the Full Orca Suite, inventory, vendor ordering, invoicing, receiving and transfers, sales forecasting, and recipe costing; the vendor also notes one-time licensing fees. Phone and email support are available, and a 30-day refund period is listed. Teams needing centralized commissary inventory and costing across units may find the breadth useful; operators looking for a free entry tier or invoice capture included in the suite should compare alternatives.

Orca Inventory pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Commissary management supports multi-unit operations.
    • Suggested ordering, purchase orders and receiving checks connect procurement workflows.
    • Recipe, prep and plate costing updates with invoice prices.
  • Where it doesn't
    • No free plan; pricing starts at $179 per store per month with a two-year commitment.
    • Invoice capture is an in-app purchase, separate from the listed Full Orca Suite.
    • The product is web-based, which may not suit teams seeking a native desktop app.
