Oracle Spatial is a spatial database capability integrated with Oracle AI Database. It is designed for enterprise applications involving GIS, location intelligence, mapping, logistics, utilities, transportation, and related spatial workloads. SQL provides the main interface for storing, indexing, querying, transforming, and analyzing spatial data, while supported data types include geometry, GeoRaster, point clouds, 3D geometry, topology, and network data.

The published plan structure is freemium. Oracle states that Spatial features are included with Oracle AI Database editions at no additional cost. Paid database service pricing depends on the selected Oracle Database deployment and edition. Deployment options cover web, Windows, Linux, API, and self-hosted environments. The Oracle ecosystem includes APEX, SQL Developer, SQL Developer Web, Visual Builder, and Oracle Analytics Cloud, alongside GIS software and Open Geospatial Consortium web services.

Spatial stands out for the breadth of its spatial capabilities. It combines 2D spatial queries, joins, proximity and containment analysis with 3D and point-cloud support, GeoRaster operations, coordinate transformations, topology, networks, geocoding, reverse geocoding, routing, and map visualization. Spatial Studio adds a web application for exploring and analyzing spatial data, with REST endpoints and embeddable maps. Choose Oracle Spatial when an enterprise already wants these capabilities within Oracle AI Database; choose a standalone alternative when database independence or an open-source product is the priority.
