Our verdict on Opterra

Opterra is Arcesium’s cloud-native investment operations and data management platform for hedge funds, institutional asset managers, and private-market firms. Delivered through web and API access, it spans middle- and back-office work rather than front-office trading: unified investment and portfolio accounting, investor accounting, performance allocations, treasury, settlement, reconciliation, and reporting. Fund and investor structure modeling supports configurable fee calculations, while centralized financial reference and transaction data management helps govern information across public and private assets. It is aimed at mid-market and enterprise organizations seeking a shared operating foundation.

The platform’s breadth is its defining capability. Its UBOR engine combines investment and portfolio accounting, while PerformA addresses investor accounting and performance allocations. Treasury workflows cover cash, liquidity, margin, financing, and collateral; reconciliation adds matching, exception workflows, and auditability. Regulatory filing and transaction reporting sit alongside portfolio P&L, exposure, performance, and investor reporting. This connected scope can suit firms coordinating fund and investor structures across public assets, private credit, private equity, real estate, and infrastructure.

Opterra is sold through contact-sales inquiries, so buyers should plan for direct vendor engagement rather than self-serve plan selection. Deployment is cloud-only, with web and API interfaces for integration into an organization’s operating environment. The platform’s accounting, treasury, data, and reporting coverage favors firms that want consolidated investment-operations controls. It is less suitable for teams that require an order-management system or a non-cloud deployment model; those requirements should be settled before choosing it. Firms seeking broad fund and investor accounting should shortlist Opterra.
