openQRM Enterprise is a self-hosted data-centre and cloud management platform for IT administrators and professional infrastructure teams. It brings together bare-metal and virtual-machine deployment, PXE/TFTP network bootstrapping, OS and server image deployment, Linux lifecycle support, configuration and application deployment with Puppet, monitoring, high availability, hardware management, out-of-band management, and a web API. Its plugin architecture is suited to teams managing physical and virtual resources across private, public, and hybrid cloud environments.

The published editions show a free Community edition with an open-source codebase, community support, a plugin library, and regular feature updates. Enterprise adds full plugin library access, expert technical support, stable releases, and solution design and deployment. Enterprise pricing uses a contact-sales model and is presented as a special offer rather than a published numeric price. Teams evaluating the commercial edition should therefore assess support and deployment requirements alongside their infrastructure scope, rather than comparing it on a simple per-user or per-server price.

openQRM fits environments that need one management layer across provisioning, lifecycle operations, cloud orchestration, and hardware control. Its integrations include OpenStack, AWS EC2, Azure, Puppet, Nagios, Collectd, KVM, VMware ESX, Proxmox, Cobbler, Clonezilla, FAI, LDAP/Active Directory, Docker, and i-doit. The combination of APIs, PXE, image deployment, hardware inventory, high availability, and out-of-band management makes it a strong match for hybrid infrastructure teams with varied platforms. Organizations seeking only a narrow bare-metal imaging workflow may prefer a more focused tool, while teams that need broad orchestration and are comfortable with self-hosting should consider openQRM Enterprise.

openQRM Enterprise pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Combines bare-metal and VM deployment with PXE and image workflows
    • Supports private, public, and hybrid cloud orchestration
    • Connects with Puppet, OpenStack, AWS, Azure, KVM, VMware, and Proxmox
  • Where it doesn't
    • Enterprise pricing requires contacting sales
    • Self-hosted deployment requires infrastructure administration
    • Its broad plugin architecture may exceed narrower provisioning needs
