OpenKM is a document and records management system for organizations that need to store, organize, search, secure, and govern business content. It combines document repositories, metadata, full-text search, version history, OCR integrations, workflows, access controls, activity logs, audit trails, and records management. Its deployment options cover web, Windows, Linux, iOS, Android, APIs, and self-hosted environments, making it a fit for open-source teams that need more governance than a basic file-sharing tool.
The Community Edition is a free, open-source system with Windows and Linux support, REST and CMIS APIs, OCR, versioning, workflows, and a mobile-device interface. The Cloud plan is a hosted service with installation and configuration included, along with backups, monitoring, OCR, preview, SSL, and antivirus. The Professional Edition runs on the customer’s server and adds professional support and updates, Windows and Linux support, and advanced security and enterprise features.
