OpenHands is an open-source platform for software engineering agents, aimed at developers and teams handling bug fixes, feature work, refactoring, testing, maintenance, and pull-request workflows. It combines a web-based graphical interface with terminal and CLI access, autonomous multi-step coding tasks, sandboxed container execution, parallel agent conversations, and a Software Agent SDK for custom agents. Local deployment, hosted cloud access, and self-hosted deployment give teams different ways to operate the platform across web, Windows, macOS, Linux, API, and self-hosted environments.

Pricing is organized into Open Source, Individual, and Enterprise plans. Open Source includes local deployment, web, terminal, and CLI interfaces, Git integrations, community support, and model-agnostic operation. Individual adds hosted cloud access, API support, Jira and Slack integrations, plus the option to bring your own key or use OpenHands models at cost; the plan itself is free, while model usage through the OpenHands provider is pay-as-you-go. Enterprise adds SaaS or self-hosted deployment, private VPC and BYOK options, SAML/SSO, unlimited concurrent conversations per user, the Large Codebase SDK, and priority support.

Its ecosystem fit is a central strength. OpenHands supports GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket, including GitHub issue and pull-request workflows, while automation can connect with Linear and Cron. Headless CI/CD and scheduled execution extend the platform beyond interactive coding sessions, and the SDK supports custom agents. Teams that need enterprise governance, private deployment, or audit controls have a clear path through Enterprise. Smaller teams seeking predictable model costs, or buyers who only need a simple chat-based coding assistant, may prefer a narrower product.
