OpenBRM is an open-source billing and subscription management platform for telecommunications operators, ISPs, MVNOs, VoIP providers, SaaS businesses, utilities, logistics companies and integrators. It is suited to teams managing complex customer-specific billing cycles, usage-based charges, subscriptions and collections. The platform can be downloaded and self-hosted, and it also covers invoicing, payment processing, product bundles, inventory, CRM and customer self-service.
For dunning operations, OpenBRM combines configurable collections with automatic payment processing and payment retries. It supports recurring, one-off, prepaid and usage-based billing, while its subscription lifecycle controls cover upgrades, downgrades, activation, suspension and cancellation. Invoice generation and billing-event notifications support ongoing account administration, with email and SMS available for notifications. Usage rating is handled through the integrated OpenRate engine, which is relevant for telecom and other usage-led billing models.
OpenBRM also connects billing to a wider operational environment through SOAP and REST APIs, payment integrations such as PayPal, Authorize.Net, FirstData, DIBS, PayWay, Chase Paymentech, Westpac, Nedbank, eWAY, Ezidebit and PayFast, and CRM integrations including vTiger CRM, SugarCRM and SuiteCRM. Its inventory tools cover SIMs, MSISDNs, devices and IP pools, while the built-in CRM includes quotes and tickets. That breadth suits organizations that need billing, lifecycle controls, inventory and customer operations together. Teams seeking a narrowly focused dunning product may prefer a more specialized system, while OpenBRM fits buyers prepared to manage a broader open-source platform and its self-hosted environment.
