Our verdict on OneCast
OneCast streams games from Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles to Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV. It is aimed at Xbox owners who want remote play across Apple devices, either over a local network or through configured internet connections. Xbox Cloud Gaming is also supported with a compatible Game Pass plan, extending the product beyond console-based streaming. Streaming can reach up to 1440p, while controller support covers Xbox and PlayStation controllers.
The pricing structure is paid rather than freemium. OneCast for Mac includes a single-user license for personal Macs, lifetime access to the current version, and free updates. OneCast for iOS & Apple TV offers a seven-day free trial followed by a one-time purchase, with Family Sharing supported. That setup suits buyers who prefer one-time access over an ongoing subscription, while the short trial gives iOS and Apple TV users a limited evaluation window before purchase.
Input and multitasking features give OneCast a broad feature set for Apple-based remote play. Keyboard and mouse support includes native passthrough and virtual controller modes, and multiple controllers enable local co-op. Xbox party chat includes echo cancellation. On iOS, picture-in-picture multitasking and external display support add flexibility for iPhone and iPad play. OneCast is a strong fit for Xbox users invested in Apple hardware, but its paid model and Apple-only client coverage make it less suitable for households seeking a free option or support across non-Apple platforms.
