Our verdict on Omoi
Omoi is a digital manga service for readers who want licensed series on the web or in mobile apps. Its catalog includes titles from publishers such as Kodansha and J-Novel Club, as well as exclusive titles. Access is mixed: some chapters are available through Premium, while other chapters or digital volumes can be purchased individually. The service launched as Azuki in 2021 and was renamed Omoi in 2025. Most titles are available worldwide except Japan, but availability varies by region.
The free plan and a 14-day Premium trial give readers ways to begin before paying. According to Omoi’s published plans, Premium costs $4.99 per month and includes access to thousands of chapters, ad-free reading, offline reading, and a 20% discount on digital volume purchases. A discounted annual plan is also available. The service supports web, iOS and Android; offline reading applies to unlocked chapters in the mobile apps. Buyers should account for the separate purchase option when a desired chapter or volume is not covered by subscription access.
A release calendar helps readers track upcoming chapters, but the available release information has an important caveat: Kodansha ended simulpub distribution on Omoi in 2023. That does not establish the release timing of every other series, so readers focused on near-Japan releases should check the titles they follow. Omoi fits readers seeking licensed manga, flexible chapter or volume purchases, and mobile offline access; it may be a weaker match for someone whose priority is simulpub availability or a consistent catalog across regions.
