Our verdict on VIZ Manga
VIZ Manga is a digital manga service from VIZ Media for English-language readers who want a broad catalog across web and mobile. It offers selected free chapters and a paid subscription to a library of more than 10,000 chapters. The service is available in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland, so it suits readers in those countries better than readers elsewhere. Selected new chapters are released the same day as in Japan, while the catalog also includes digital volumes for purchase.
The published subscription price is $1.99 per month, billed monthly, and the plan provides access to the digital library of 10,000+ manga chapters. VIZ states that new subscribers receive a one-week free trial. Selected free chapters offer a way to read without subscribing, while the subscription expands access to the library. New subscriptions are started through the mobile app, a relevant step for readers comparing how they want to sign up.
Reading is supported through a website and iOS and Android apps, with progress synced between the website and app. Subscribers can download chapters for reading, which supports reading away from an internet connection. These features make VIZ Manga a practical fit for readers who want one subscription across browser and mobile, and who value a large English-language catalog at a low monthly price. It is less suitable for readers outside its six listed countries or those who need same-day access to every new chapter; same-day availability applies to selected chapters only. Readers seeking a different regional catalog should compare alternatives available where they live.
