Our verdict on Olvid
Olvid is an encrypted messaging application for individuals, teams, and organizations that want private communication without linking an account to a phone number or email address. The Free plan includes messaging and attachments, secure group discussions, inbound secure audio and video calls, and ephemeral messages. End-to-end encryption covers messages, attachments, audio and video calls, and profile backups, while multiple independent profiles support separate communication contexts.
Pricing is structured around a permanent Free plan and paid additions. The In-app purchase tier costs €4.99 per user per month with monthly billing through the App Store or Google Play, adding outbound secure audio and video calls and multi-device use. The Business plan costs €9.90 per user per month with annual billing and adds license activation links alongside secure messaging, calls, and multi-device use. Enterprise also costs €9.90 per user per month with annual billing and adds the Management Console, SSO and directory integration, and MDM deployment.
Platform coverage is a strong fit for mixed-device teams, with applications for Android, iOS, macOS, Windows, and Linux. Enterprise integrations include Keycloak, LDAP, Active Directory, and Mobile Device Management. Group discussions support multiple administration modes, and automatic message deletion adds another control for short-lived conversations. Olvid suits organizations that prioritize identity-free enrollment, encrypted backups, and cross-platform secure communication. It is less suitable for teams that need outbound calls or multi-device access without moving beyond the Free plan, or that prefer a single free tier with all collaboration capabilities included.
