Our verdict on OLI Torus
OLI Torus is an open-source learning content management system from the Open Learning Initiative at Carnegie Mellon University. It brings course authoring, publishing, delivery, and learning analytics into one platform, with separate experiences for students, instructors, authors, and administrators. Higher-education course teams can create rich-text, media, and interactive activities; monitor learner progress through instructor dashboards; and deliver content through responsive web experiences on phones and tablets. A managed deployment is available through OLI, while institutions can also run self-hosted instances.
Content reuse is a central strength. Activity banks let teams share, filter, and centralize activities across course pages, while modular templates support reuse across courses. Publication and versioning workflows help teams manage course changes and derivatives.
