OctaneBench review
A free, cross-platform benchmark for comparable single- and multi-GPU rendering results.

OctaneBench is a free GPU benchmarking application from OTOY for comparing rendering performance across systems. It runs standardized OctaneRender scenes and settings, supports single- and multi-GPU testing, and is available for Windows, Linux, and macOS. It suits PC builders, hardware reviewers, rendering professionals, and technical users who need comparable GPU rendering results rather than a general-purpose assessment of an entire computer. The Free plan does not require an OctaneRender Standalone license.
Its strongest feature is standardization. By using defined scenes and settings, OctaneBench gives users a consistent basis for comparing GPU results. Results can be uploaded to OTOY’s online database, where performance statistics and comparison charts are available. The application also supports text and CSV result saving, while the published category specifications include CLI automation. Multiple downloadable benchmark versions are listed, including OctaneBench 2025.2 and legacy versions, which can help users work with different benchmark releases.
The main trade-off is scope. OctaneBench concentrates on GPU rendering through OctaneRender workloads, so it is a focused choice rather than a broad PC benchmark covering varied system tasks. OTOY’s documented requirements are based on OctaneRender Standalone, and the FAQ states that OctaneRender supports Windows, Linux, and macOS and requires a CUDA-enabled NVIDIA GPU. Choose OctaneBench when standardized rendering comparisons, online result sharing, and exportable results matter. Consider a broader benchmark when you need coverage beyond GPU rendering or a different hardware platform.
