Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP) review
A broad Kubernetes control plane for enterprises managing self-hosted and cloud clusters.

Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP) is an enterprise Kubernetes platform for deploying, securing, operating, and upgrading clusters across Nutanix infrastructure, VMware, bare metal, public clouds, edge locations, and air-gapped environments. It is aimed at organizations that need centralized control over Kubernetes fleets rather than a single-cluster management layer. Core capabilities include lifecycle management and automated upgrades, cluster autoscaling, role-based access control, authentication, single sign-on, observability, backup and restore, service mesh integration, GitOps deployment, and support for Amazon EKS and Azure AKS management.
The published plan structure divides capabilities across Starter, Pro, and Ultimate. Starter includes upstream Kubernetes, cluster lifecycle management, role-based access control and single sign-on, load balancing and ingress, and Nutanix AHV deployment. Pro adds observability dashboards, metrics, logs, and tracing; backup and restore; service mesh; the AI Navigator chatbot; and deployment on Nutanix, VMware, bare metal, AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. Ultimate adds Kubernetes fleet management, EKS and AKS management, multitenancy, GitOps continuous deployment, centralized observability, and cost management. Starter is included with NCI Pro and Ultimate and is not available as a standalone purchase.
NKP fits teams that need broad ecosystem coverage, with integrations including Amazon EKS, Azure AKS, AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, VMware, bare metal, Kubecost, FluxCD, Cluster API, and Nutanix Data Services for Kubernetes. Its hybrid and multicloud scope, centralized fleet controls, and disaster recovery integrations suit larger operating environments with varied infrastructure. The trade-off is purchasing friction: the pricing model is contact sales, and there is no free plan. Smaller teams or organizations seeking a narrowly focused, independently priced Kubernetes tool may prefer a simpler alternative. Enterprises managing self-hosted fleets across multiple environments should consider NKP when centralized operations and lifecycle control are priorities.
