Our verdict on NTS
NTS combines two 24/7 live radio channels with themed Infinite Mixtapes and an archive of tens of thousands of shows. It suits listeners who want curated music discovery and programming across multiple genres rather than a broad lineup of live stations. The service is available on web, iOS and Android, offers personalised recommendations, and does not carry on-air advertising. Its iOS app supports Apple CarPlay, making it a fit for listeners who want to take broadcasts on the road.
The free plan includes access to the service, while NTS Supporters costs £3.99 per month. According to the published plan details, Supporters receive enhanced tracklists, a newsletter and Discord channels reserved for supporters, a 20% discount on the NTS shop, and eligibility to submit a mix for Supporter Radio. The paid tier adds benefits around track information and community participation; it is not necessary to pay to access the core radio and discovery experience. Listeners primarily seeking additional live station choice may find the two-channel format restrictive.
NTS puts more emphasis on discovery and archived programming than on breadth of live stations: listeners can explore shows and episodes across genres, browse themed mixtapes, and get personalised recommendations. Apple CarPlay support is a useful platform fit for iOS listeners, while the sleep timer requires an iOS Shortcuts workaround rather than an in-app control. Choose NTS if curated programming and a large show archive matter more than selecting from many live channels. It is less suitable for listeners who prioritise a broad station lineup or want an in-app sleep timer.
