Nokia Network Services Platform (NSP) is a modular network management and automation platform for telecommunications providers and enterprises. It manages Nokia and multivendor network elements across IP/MPLS, optical and microwave domains. The platform is designed for teams that need network discovery, intent-based configuration, service fulfillment, assurance, analytics and programmable operations across multilayer infrastructure. Its web interface, self-hosted deployment model and APIs support both operational users and systems responsible for broader orchestration.

NSP’s ecosystem fit is a central strength. Discovery works through CLI, SNMP, NETCONF/YANG and OpenConfig gNMI, while REST and RESTCONF APIs connect the platform with OSS/BSS and network orchestration systems. Third-party optical controllers can connect through T-API, and Nokia WaveSuite is also listed as an integration. Role-based access control and single sign-on support controlled access, while model-driven management and standards-based interfaces help align the platform with existing network operations environments. Buyers should assess how these interfaces map to their current inventory, service and orchestration processes.

The platform’s breadth is both its value and its trade-off. In addition to configuration and policy automation, NSP covers real-time telemetry, reporting, analytics, path computation, traffic engineering, network optimization and IP-optical topology visualization. Workflow-based automation addresses repetitive operations, and AI- and machine-learning-assisted capabilities support troubleshooting, prediction and corrective actions. This makes NSP a strong fit for service-provider infrastructure orchestration and complex multilayer environments. Organizations seeking a narrower network configuration management tool, particularly one centered on configuration backup workflows, may prefer a more focused alternative. Pricing is handled through contact with sales, and there is no free plan.

Nokia Network Services Platform pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Discovers multivendor networks across CLI, SNMP, NETCONF/YANG and gNMI
    • Combines intent-based configuration with service fulfillment and workflow automation
    • Adds telemetry, assurance, path computation and IP-optical coordination
  • Where it doesn't
    • Pricing requires a sales conversation rather than self-service purchase
    • On-premises deployment can require infrastructure planning and administration
    • Its broad orchestration scope is less focused on core configuration backup
