Netpicker review
A broad network automation suite with free access, but costly paid tiers.

Netpicker is network configuration management software for network and NetDevOps teams managing multi-vendor environments. It backs up, versions, searches, compares, verifies, and restores network-device configurations. Scheduled and event-triggered backups, Git-based history, drift detection, configuration rollback, compliance validation, Python automation, remediation workflows, and a documented REST API cover a broad operational scope. The product supports API and self-hosted deployments, including local, containerized, virtual-appliance, and private-cloud options.
The pricing structure makes Netpicker accessible for evaluation and smaller starting deployments through its free Foundation plan, which includes unlimited network devices and configuration backups. Foundation also provides configuration diffs and search, simple and Python automation jobs, and an AI assistant for jobs, rules, and configuration analysis, but uses a single-user license. Professional costs $7,500 per year and adds Python-based testing, compliance and hardening validation, file-based restoration backups, vulnerability scanning, workflow orchestration, and integrations. Enterprise costs $33,500 per year and adds multi-user, multi-role RBAC, extensive audit logs, LDAP, SAML, and OAuth single sign-on, an integrated syslog server, and Kubernetes, OpenShift, and air-gapped platform support.
Its ecosystem fit is a strong reason to consider it. Netpicker integrates with NetBox, Nautobot, Infrahub, Slurp'it, GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, and Slack, connecting configuration management with source-of-truth, development, service management, and communication workflows. The feature set suits teams that want backup, validation, automation, and remediation in one product. Teams needing only basic configuration backups may find the paid tiers difficult to justify, while organizations requiring collaboration, policy validation, orchestration, or enterprise access controls have a clearer case for Professional or Enterprise.
