NETCAP review
NETCAP combines live capture, PCAP analysis, distributed collection, and AI-assisted investigation.

NETCAP is a network traffic analysis framework for security research, forensics, intrusion monitoring, and machine-learning workflows. Its open-source Core edition captures traffic from network interfaces, processes PCAP files, decodes protocols into structured audit records, and supports distributed collection through sensors and collectors. It is suited to teams that need both live and recorded traffic analysis, especially where command-line workflows, structured output, and remote collection are important.
The plan structure separates collection and analysis. Core provides an open-source CLI tool with 66+ audit record types, live capture, PCAP analysis, distributed collection, and Protocol Buffers, CSV, JSON, and Prometheus output. Pro costs €49 per month and adds a cross-platform desktop application, graph and timeline analysis, AI-powered threat detection, tool integrations, and investigation notes. A 14-day trial is available. Enterprise adds unlimited team seats, priority support with SLA, custom integrations, on-site training, a dedicated account manager, and custom feature development.
NETCAP also fits environments that connect network analysis with broader security tooling. Integrations include Wireshark, Metasploit, hashcat, John the Ripper, BetterCrack, Maltego, Prometheus, and Docker. The platform supports Windows, macOS, Linux, and web, while its technical scope includes flow analysis, TLS client and server fingerprinting, and deep packet inspection with libprotoident and nDPI. Choose NETCAP if distributed collection, structured records, protocol inspection, or graph-based investigation are central requirements. Teams seeking a primarily visual workflow may prefer Pro rather than Core, while organizations that do not need packet capture, PCAP processing, or investigation analysis may find its scope broader than necessary.
