Neo4j is a native graph database for developers, data scientists, and organizations working with connected data. It stores nodes, relationships, and properties, with use cases including analytics, recommendations, fraud detection, knowledge graphs, and AI. The product is available as the managed AuraDB cloud service or as self-managed Community and Enterprise editions for on-premises, public cloud, and private cloud deployments.

The published plans show a freemium model. AuraDB Free costs $0 forever, requires no credit card or other payment method, and includes access to graph tools. AuraDB Professional starts at $65 per GB per month, billed monthly, with a minimum 1GB cluster, daily backups with 7-day retention, and availability on AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. AuraDB Business Critical starts at $146 per GB per month, billed monthly, with a minimum 2GB cluster, a 99.95% uptime SLA, daily backups with 30-day retention, and role-based access control. AuraDB Virtual Dedicated Cloud provides a dedicated environment with VPC isolation and dedicated infrastructure, with pricing available through sales. A 14-day free trial is also available.

Neo4j’s platform breadth is a central strength. Alongside Cypher and GQL support, it offers clustering, runtime failover, horizontal scaling, change data capture, data connectors, graph algorithms, and vector indexes for similarity and hybrid search. Official libraries cover Python, JavaScript, Java, .NET, Go, GraphQL, and Spring, while integrations include Apache Kafka, Confluent Cloud, Apache Spark, BigQuery, Google Cloud, LangChain, LlamaIndex, Haystack, and DSPy. Choose Neo4j when connected-data modeling, graph analytics, or graph-enabled AI requires a broad ecosystem. Teams seeking a smaller deployment may prefer the free plan, while production workloads should account for cluster minimums and usage-based pricing.
