NAVER Cloud Secret Manager is a cloud service for storing, encrypting, retrieving, rotating, and managing passwords, private keys, and authentication tokens. It is intended for applications running in NAVER Cloud environments, including VPC deployments and workloads connected to Ncloud Kubernetes Service. Web and REST API access support both direct management and application-driven workflows, while integrations with Cloud Functions, Key Management Service, Cloud Log Analytics, and Cloud DB connect secret handling to related cloud services.
Pricing is divided into Credential storage and API calls, with both plans using usage-based billing and excluding VAT. The published pricing model is paid rather than free, and the pricing notes state that KMS, Cloud Log Analytics, and Cloud Functions charges are separate. This structure suits teams that want consumption-based billing for a cloud-native deployment, but it requires budgeting across the secret service and the connected services used for encryption, logging, or rotation. The service is documented for Korea and Japan regions.
Its strongest capability is controlled secret lifecycle management. Secrets can use encryption protected by Secret Manager or user-managed KMS keys, with automatic or manual rotation and user-defined rotation actions triggered through Cloud Functions. Lifecycle states include active, suspended, pending deletion, and deleted, while stages include ACTIVE, PREVIOUS, SUSPENDED, and PENDING. Access history is available through Cloud Log Analytics, and Kubernetes workloads can consume secrets through the Secrets Store CSI Driver. Choose it for NAVER Cloud-native applications that need rotation, audit history, and Kubernetes connectivity. An alternative may fit better when a free tier, fixed monthly pricing, or a broader deployment model is required.
