Our verdict on NaturalReader
NaturalReader is text-to-speech software for individuals, educators, businesses, and content creators. Its personal products convert typed, pasted, uploaded, and web content into spoken audio, while support for PDF, Word, EPUB, and image files makes it suited to document-heavy reading. OCR handles scanned and image-based documents, and multilingual AI voices are available across web, iOS, Android, and Chrome. The separate commercial AI Voice Generator is aimed at voiceover creation, script editing, voice cloning, and redistribution.
The personal plans follow a clear progression. Lite costs $13.90 per user per month and includes unlimited listening with Lite Voices, 1 million MP3 characters per month using Lite Voices, OCR, the Pronunciation Editor, and annotations. Plus costs $20.90 and adds 500,000 shared characters per day with Plus and cloned voices, 1 million shared MP3 characters per month, and cloning for up to two voices. Pro costs $25.90 and adds Reading Styles with Pro Voices while retaining cloning for up to two voices. Commercial Starter costs $29 per user per month and includes commercially licensed audio, 500,000 credits per month, models from Gemini, OpenAI, Azure, and ElevenLabs, up to four AI cloned voices, and MP3/WAV downloads.
NaturalReader’s main strength is breadth: it combines document reading, OCR, pronunciation control, annotations, AI reading tools, voice cloning, and audio conversion rather than focusing only on typed text. MP3 and WAV export also supports both personal listening and commercial voiceover workflows, but the licensing boundary matters. Personal plans are for personal use, while commercial redistribution requires the separate AI Voice Generator. Readers converting documents to audio should choose NaturalReader for its broad reading support and platform coverage; teams seeking commercial output should select the commercial product rather than a personal plan.
