Our verdict on myPhysicsLab

myPhysicsLab is an open-source project for interactive, real-time physics simulations in a web browser. It is suited to students, educators, demonstrators, and developers who need free simulations for experimentation, explanation, or software development. The collection includes around 50 simulations covering springs, pendulums, collisions, rigid bodies, roller coasters, and molecules. Users can adjust parameters, drag objects, share customized states, and access downloadable versions for offline use.

Its strongest feature is the combination of interactive exploration and inspectable results. Mathematical explanations and simulation documentation provide context, while the 2D rigid-body physics engine handles collisions and contact forces. VarsHistory and terminal output support numerical data collection, and results can be copied in tabular or comma-separated formats. Customization extends from shared simulation states to EasyScript, JavaScript, and the reusable JavaScript and TypeScript library, giving technically inclined users ways to adapt the simulations beyond basic parameter changes.

The product’s breadth makes it useful for demonstrations and introductory exploration across several physics topics, but its scope is clearly centered on 2D simulations. It does not provide three-dimensional visuals, and its dimensionless units are less suitable when work depends on specified physical units. Choose myPhysicsLab for a free, open-source collection with documentation, authoring options, data export, and offline access. Consider another tool if 3D visualization or physically specified units are central requirements.
