Our verdict on SimScale

SimScale is a browser-based cloud platform for engineering simulation across computational fluid dynamics, finite element analysis, thermal analysis, electromagnetics, and multiphysics workflows. It is aimed at engineering teams that want to upload CAD models, prepare geometry, define materials and boundary conditions, run analyses on scalable cloud computing, and review results in an integrated 3D post-processor. Result data can also be downloaded for local post-processing, while tutorials and public projects support learning and collaboration.

Its plan structure covers different levels of access. The free Community plan includes selected analysis types, 10 unrestricted simulations, up to 3,000 core hours, and public projects. Mechanical adds private projects, standard structural and thermal analysis types, and live support. Professional adds private projects, standard fluid, structural, and thermal analysis types, a custom computing quota, and live support. Enterprise includes Professional features alongside Engineering AI, Physics AI, dedicated API support, and custom integrations. This makes the product suitable for evaluating cloud simulation or supporting commercial engineering work, though the Community plan is constrained by project visibility and analysis scope.

Platform fit is a major strength for teams with existing design and automation workflows. SimScale integrates with SOLIDWORKS, Fusion 360, Onshape, PTC Creo, Solid Edge, Autodesk Inventor, and FreeCAD. Its REST API and Python and C# SDK support extend the browser workflow into engineering processes that need automation or custom applications. Teams should choose SimScale when broad physics coverage, cloud computing, CAD connectivity, and browser access matter more than offline operation. It is less suitable for teams that require offline simulation or a fully private experience on the free plan.
