MWS Cloud Platform Managed ClickHouse is a managed service for deploying and operating ClickHouse clusters. It is aimed at teams running real-time analytics, behavioral and web analytics, log and telemetry analysis, dashboards, or analytical data marts. MWS manages cluster infrastructure, operating-system maintenance, and ClickHouse maintenance, while users configure databases, access roles, compute, storage, shards, and replicas through the cloud console, API, CLI, or Terraform.

Pricing is organized around PAYG resource components rather than fixed bundled plans. The available components cover ClickHouse and Keeper vCPU, RAM, network storage, disk IOPS, and backups. This structure lets teams align spend with selected cluster resources, but it also makes cost planning dependent on the chosen architecture and operational requirements. There is no free plan. Backup retention can be configured from 1 to 30 days, and backups can be restored into a new cluster. Teams comparing providers should evaluate the full combination of compute, storage, IOPS, networking, and backup usage rather than looking for a single tier price.

The platform’s main strength is control over managed cluster design. Teams can choose standalone or multi-node configurations, adjust node count and shards, scale horizontally through sharding, and use replication across nodes in multi-node shards. Private Link supports private network connectivity, while IAM and database user and role management address access control. Monitoring and managed updates reduce operational work, and selectable versions provide deployment choice. MWS Cloud Platform Managed ClickHouse fits teams that want configurable ClickHouse infrastructure with automation and managed maintenance. It is less suitable for buyers seeking a free entry tier, fixed plan bundles, or a broader multi-database service.

MWS Cloud Platform Managed ClickHouse pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Standalone and multi-node clusters with configurable resources and shards
    • Replication, backups, restoration, IAM, and private network connectivity
    • API, CLI, Terraform, monitoring, managed updates, and selectable versions
  • Where it doesn't
    • No free plan; pricing is based on separate PAYG resources
    • Resource-based billing requires sizing compute, storage, IOPS, and backups
    • Focused on managed ClickHouse rather than a broad database portfolio
