Momento Cache review
A low-cost managed cache for teams needing Valkey capacity without cluster operations.

Momento Cache is a fully managed Valkey caching service for application and database workloads. It supports application data, database query results, API responses, static assets, session data, and personalization data. Teams can connect through standard Valkey or Redis-compatible clients, a TLS-secured managed gateway, or an HTTP API for get, set, and delete operations. Its best fit is a team seeking managed cache capacity with low usage pricing rather than a broad data platform.
The pricing model offers two Flex options and an instance-based Cluster option. Flex Standard costs $0.018 per GiB-hour for managed Valkey capacity with standard performance, while Flex Performance costs $0.027 per GiB-hour for the performance tier. Cluster t4g.micro costs $0.0105 per instance-hour and includes an on-demand Valkey cluster node with 2 vCPU and 0.50 GiB memory. Billing is monthly, and there is no free plan. The Flex capacity model automatically sizes topology, while Cluster capacity allows configuration of instance type, shards, and replicas.
Operationally, Momento Cache handles cluster provisioning, upgrades, rolling updates, and security patches. Replica-based failover and multi-availability-zone placement support high availability, while logical databases allow separation within capacity pools. Valkey is the documented engine, with Redis support through client compatibility. AWS, Cloudflare Workers, and Fastly Compute@Edge are listed integrations, but the service currently runs on AWS and is in limited preview. Choose it for managed, low-cost cache capacity and straightforward access patterns; consider an alternative when durable persistence or broader operational scope is central to the deployment.
