MobaSSH is a self-hosted SSH server for remotely administering Windows computers from SSH clients and Unix/Linux environments. It combines remote shell commands, SFTP for secure file transfer, X11 forwarding, Unix utilities, scripting, monitoring, and configuration retrieval in a Windows service. The product is aimed at corporate teams managing Windows systems alongside Unix or Linux servers, as well as administrators who need SSH-based access without replacing the Windows operating environment.

The published plans show a straightforward freemium structure. Home Edition is free and includes the full SSH server, Unix utilities, remote shell commands, SFTP, Windows-service operation, X11 forwarding, and user selection. Professional Edition costs $69 per server as a one-time license and includes all Home Edition features, plus advanced SSH service options, advanced log options, Windows Server support, Active Directory and Samba-domain users, and hosts allow/deny configuration. The Professional license includes 12 months of updates; maintenance and updates can be renewed annually while the right to use remains lifetime. A 60-day free trial is also available.

MobaSSH’s main strength is its focused Windows administration workflow. Selectable users, host allow/deny rules, domain-user support, logging options, scripting, and monitoring address common needs for controlled remote access and operational administration. Its narrow platform scope is also the key constraint: organizations needing a single SSH server product across Windows and other operating systems should look elsewhere. Choose MobaSSH when Windows is the target platform and a free entry plan or per-server Professional licensing fits the deployment. Choose an alternative when broader platform coverage is a requirement.
