MiXplorer review
A capable Android file manager with strong cloud, network and archive support.
Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Oct 2026
MiXplorer is an Android file manager for organizing files on device storage, SD cards, USB-connected storage and network locations. Its free, ad-free standard application suits Android users who want more than basic folder browsing, particularly those managing cloud accounts, shared folders, archives or root-level files. Tabbed browsing and a dual-pane landscape view support work across multiple locations, while queued copy and move tasks help organize longer file operations.
Its strongest advantage is breadth within the file-management workflow. MiXplorer can create and extract multiple archive formats, encrypt and decrypt files, search across storage, and open images, media and text without requiring separate tools for each task. It also supports FTP, SFTP, SMB and WebDAV, alongside cloud services including Google Drive, OneDrive, OneDrive Business, Dropbox, Box, Mega.nz, pCloud and others. That combination makes it a practical fit for users moving files between local, removable, network and cloud storage.
MiXplorer keeps its core application free, while MiXplorer Silver is a paid Google Play bundle containing the file manager and Archiver, Image, Tagger and PDF add-ons. The Silver purchase supports development, and its Google Play price may vary by region. Root access and application management add depth for users who need device-level control, but they are less relevant for simple file browsing. Choose MiXplorer if Android is your primary platform and you value protocol coverage, cloud connections and advanced file tools. Choose an alternative if you need a desktop or iOS version, or if batch renaming is essential.
