Minitube review
A focused YouTube player for desktop, with search, channel subscriptions, and 4K playback.

Minitube is a desktop application for watching YouTube videos on Windows, macOS, and Linux. It suits solo users and small teams who want a dedicated player rather than a general media library. Search by keyword, channel name, or YouTube link, then let videos play sequentially in a TV-like stream. Channel subscriptions do not require signing in to a YouTube account, and playback supports resolutions up to 4K.
The product’s strength is its YouTube-focused viewing flow. Search suggestions help refine queries while typing, and results can be sorted or filtered by relevance, date, view count, rating, duration, or quality. Playlists are editable with drag-and-drop and video removal. Fullscreen playback, a compact always-on-top window, and full-resolution snapshots add viewing controls without changing the central focus: finding and watching YouTube videos. This makes Minitube a fit for people who prefer a standalone desktop player; it is less suitable for those seeking a broader media solution.
According to the vendor’s pricing page, the Minitube plan costs €9.99 per year and includes free updates forever and email support. The developer’s site also offers downloads for Windows, macOS, and Linux, while community support is available. The published plan is straightforward, but it is a recurring subscription rather than a one-time purchase. Choose Minitube if YouTube search, sequential playback, and channel subscriptions without account sign-in match your desktop viewing habits. Choose another product if you need playback centered on services beyond YouTube or do not want an annual subscription.
