MileClear review
A UK-focused mileage and tax-record app with a free tier and paid exports.

For UK gig workers, delivery drivers, self-employed people and employees driving their own vehicles for work, MileClear combines mileage tracking with tools for keeping tax records. It can detect and record GPS trips in the background, then lets users classify journeys as business or personal. Mileage deductions are calculated using HMRC rates based on trip date and vehicle type. Shift grouping, platform tagging and earnings tracking also make it relevant to people working across delivery and driver platforms, rather than only to sole traders recording occasional business journeys.
The product spans iOS, Android and a web dashboard, with cloud and mobile deployment. Its tax workflow includes a Self Assessment wizard mapped to HMRC SA103 form boxes, plus PDF and CSV mileage and tax exports. The Free plan includes unlimited GPS trip tracking, the wizard, an expense log with receipt scanning and web dashboard access. Pro costs £4.99 per month and adds Self Assessment and mileage exports, an Accountant Portal, Open Banking earnings import, Auto-Classify Rules and business insights. Open Banking and integrations with Uber, Deliveroo, Just Eat, Amazon Flex and Stuart connect the record-keeping workflow to earnings activity. Trips can also be stored offline and synchronized later.
MileClear’s strongest fit is someone who needs UK-specific mileage records alongside earnings and expense tracking, and wants to start with a free plan before paying for exports or accountant access. The paid tier is a focused step up rather than a requirement for basic trip tracking. Its geographic specialization makes it less suited to people needing tax workflows for other countries. Expense categorization is manual, and Android is described as being in closed beta, so Android users should check availability before relying on it. Support is listed through the community channel, which may not suit buyers seeking a different support route.
