Our verdict on MICROMINE Origin

MICROMINE Origin supports mineral exploration and resource evaluation, with workflows extending from exploration-data management through grade control. Geologists can interpret and visualize data, build geological models and wireframes, estimate and validate resources, and support production geologists with ore boundaries and dig-block planning. It is aimed at geology and grade-control teams across small, mid-market and enterprise organizations, rather than teams seeking a single system for broad mine planning or fleet management.

Its geological workflow covers implicit modelling of grade shells, lithology boundaries, faults and surfaces, alongside explicit wireframe construction and editing. Resource estimation and validation connect with interactive block-model visualization and analysis. For production, Origin includes ore tracking, blast-displacement visualization and grade-control reporting. It can import drillhole, wireframe, block-model, seismic, GIS/GPS and CAD data, and integrates with Micromine Nexus and Micromine Geobank. The vendor also describes AI features, though specific capabilities are not detailed here. These functions make Origin a fit for teams that need geological and production workflows tied to exploration data.

Origin is Windows desktop software, with email, phone and documentation support. According to the vendor’s pricing information, it is subscription-based and requires a sales quote; there are no public plan prices to compare. MICROMINE presents Origin and Beyond as related parts of one platform, but mine design and scheduling tools are described for Beyond rather than Origin. Teams focused on geological modelling, estimation and grade control should consider Origin; operations seeking mine planning or fleet management should look for a product that covers those workflows directly.
