Metiix Blockade review
A free, self-hosted network blocker with device, group, and whole-network controls.

Metiix Blockade is free, self-hosted software for blocking ads, trackers, and malware across devices connected to a network. Configured from a single server or PC, it lets solo operators and small environments apply rules to one device, a group, or the entire network. This is a fit for people who want network-level control rather than configuring a separate blocker on each device; it is less suited to buyers looking for a hosted service or a downloadable client for every platform.
Its controls combine an updated blocklist with user-managed entries and exceptions, so administrators can add items to block or allow selected items through. The query lists show recently blocked and relayed requests, giving a view into how traffic is handled. That makes Blockade more than a simple all-or-nothing switch, though its stated filter controls are basic. Linux downloads include Linux ARM for Raspberry Pi, while the listed downloadable platforms are Windows and Linux. The cross-platform description concerns protection for devices on the network, not downloads for each device operating system.
The main trade-off is operational responsibility: Blockade is self-hosted, so the network needs a server or PC running it. Metiix labels the product free, and its Free plan includes network-wide blocking, custom blocklist and exceptions, and blocked and relayed query lists. Email is the stated support channel. The vendor's pages are dated and do not establish whether current releases are actively maintained, a practical concern for a tool handling network traffic. Choose Blockade if free, centrally managed blocking and query visibility matter more than managed hosting; consider another option if ongoing release signals or wider downloadable platform coverage are priorities.
