Our verdict on MatterScribe
MatterScribe is a browser-based AI transcription service for attorneys, paralegals, court reporters, mediators, and legal teams. It converts hearings, depositions, witness statements, dictation, and other legal audio into searchable rough transcripts. Court-focused workflows include native TRM and TRS support, speaker identification, timestamps, synced audio playback, transcript editing, and exports to PDF, DOCX, and MP3. It is intended for rapid legal review and case preparation rather than certified court transcripts.
Pricing is structured around usage and team size. Pay-As-You-Go charges only for transcribed audio, includes 30 free minutes to get started, retains files for 3 days, and requires a card on file. Professional costs $25 per month or $270 per year and includes 500 transcription minutes monthly, 7 days of retention, transcript review and editing, and minute packs that roll over for up to one year. Professional Plus costs $50 monthly or $540 annually, with 1,250 minutes, 30 days of retention, and email support. Firm Administered costs $80 monthly or $864 annually and adds 2,500 shared minutes, multiple members, admin controls, dashboards, priority support, and account isolation. Professional and Professional Plus include a 14-day trial with 120 minutes.
The standout capability is its fit for court recordings: MatterScribe combines legal audio support with AI speaker labeling, timestamped text, synchronized playback, court logs, key points, multilingual transcription, and labeled English translation. Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet integrations extend its browser-based workflow. AES-256 encryption and no model training on customer data support privacy-conscious legal work. Choose MatterScribe if your team needs searchable, editable working transcripts and flexible volume options. Look elsewhere if you need certified transcripts or longer file retention than the listed plans provide.
