Matterbee review
Matterbee combines matter workflows, intake, billing and AI tools at £109 per user monthly.

Matterbee brings matter management, intake, document and email handling, time recording, billing and legal accounting into a cloud-based workspace for law firms. Its configurable workflows and AI document assistance make it a fit for mid-market firms that want to coordinate operational work alongside matter files. Firms seeking a free entry tier or a narrowly focused tool may find its scope and per-user subscription less suitable.
The published Standard plan costs £109 per user per month, billed monthly, excluding VAT. It includes matter management, client intake and onboarding, document and email management, AI-assisted features, time recording and billing, and legal accounting. There is no free plan. The package therefore bundles core practice operations rather than separating those capabilities into multiple paid tiers; buyers should weigh its per-user cost against their need for that combined scope.
Workflow configuration is a central strength: firms can define matter stages, tasks, deadlines and approvals, while intake includes conflict checks and AML prompts. Documents and email are centralised with versioning and search, and Word integration supports document work. AI features cover matter assistance, document review, population and drafting. Integrations include Outlook, Word, SharePoint, Microsoft 365, DocuSign, Credas, Xero and Salesforce AppExchange, with API connectivity also available. Role-based matter access, audit trails, GDPR and two-factor authentication are listed. Access is via web and mobile; support is by email and ticket, not 24/7. Matterbee is worth considering for firms that need configurable workflows, financial functions and AI together, but less so for cost-sensitive firms or buyers who require round-the-clock support.
